A vote about whether to recall Lauren Wild from his position as Sheriff of Walsh County, North Dakota, took place on April 12, 2011.[1]

Sheriff Wild retained his office in the special recall election.[2]

The recall effort against Sheriff Wild started when he fired deputy sheriff Ron Nord. Nord ran against Wild for the position of county sheriff in the November 2, 2010 election for the position. Wild fired Nord the morning after the election.[3]

Jennie Swartz was a leader in the recall effort.

Wild has been the county's sheriff since 1989.

Path to the ballot

1,236 signatures were required to force a recall election.[1] 1,334 signatures were submitted to election officials on December 9, 2010.[4]
