Lee Murphy was the Democratic candidate for District 34 of the Kentucky State Senate. The primary election was on May 18, 2010 and the general election was on November 2.

Murphy lost to Republican candidate Jared Carpenter by a margin of 23,553 to 11,719 in the November 2 general election. [1] Evangelical Christian candidate Donald Paul VanWinkle also ran, receiving 1,004 votes. Democratic incumbent Ed Worley did not seek re-election.

In the May 18 primary election, Murphy defeated opponents Landra Lewis (4,106 votes) and Michael Cope (3,966 votes) with 4,453 votes. [2]
