Bellew studied Communication and History at North Texas University from 1987 to 1991. Her professional experiences include stints as a teacher and poltiical consultant. Bellew has been the spokesperson and vice president of Millions of Moms (M.O.M) for America since 2009.
Bellew's campaign website listed the following issues:
"Like most New Jerseyans, Bellew is convinced that New Jersey taxpayers are already overburdened and would cut spending rather than increase taxes. Bellew intends to reform the two major contributors to high property taxes in New Jersey: unfair education funding and crippling Mt. Laurel decisions."

Bellew ran in the 2013 election for New Jersey State Senate District 12. Bellew was defeated by Joe Kyrillos, Jr.in the June 4 Republican primary. The general election takes place on November 5, 2013.
Mellew and her husband, Peter, have two children. They currently reside in Union Beach, New Jersey.
