Lesil McGuire (b. January 22, 1971) is a Republican member of the Alaska State Senate, representing District K. She was first elected to the chamber in 2006.

McGuire served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007.

McGuire announced on June 5, 2013 that she ran for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska in the 2014 election.[1]

Biography

McGuire earned a B.A. in 1993 and a J.D. in 1998, both from Willamette University in Oregon. Her professional experience includes serving as a law clerk with the Oregon Department of Justice from 1996-1998, and as a legal intern with the U.S. Attorney's Office in 1996. [2]

McGuire ran for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska in 2014. She sought the Republican Party nomination in the primary election on August 26, 2014. The general election took place November 4, 2014. [3]

McGuire won re-election in the 2012 election for Alaska State Senate District 11 (K). McGuire defeated Jeff Landfield in the August 28, 2012 Republican primary and defeated Roselynn Cacy (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5][6]

McGuire won re-election to the District N Seat in 2010. She had no primary opposition. She defeated Ed Cullinane and Clinton Desjarlais in the November 2 general election.[7]

In 2006 McGuire was elected to the Alaska State Senate District N. She finished with 8,348 votes while her opponent Ray Utter finished with 4,269.[8] McGuire raised $158,761 for her campaign fund.[9]
