Two Lincoln Township General & Police Levy Renewal measures were on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Lincoln, which is in Berrien County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to renew the current police levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further seven years in order to continue to pay for police operational costs in the township.

The second measure sought to renew the current library levy which is set at a rate of $.30 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further fifteen years in order to continue to pay for library operational costs in the township.[1]

The question on the ballot:

Proposition I: Shall the previously voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution in the Charter Township of Lincoln of .5 mills ($.50 for each $1,000 of taxable value), which remains at .5 mills ($.50 for each $1,000 of taxable value) and has not been reduced by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at .5 mills ($.50 for each $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for 7 years, 2013 through 2019, inclusive, for the purpose of funding the operations of the Lincoln Charter Township Police Department, raising an estimated $315,000.00 in the first year the millage is levied?

Proposition II: Shall the previously voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Section of the Michigan Constitution in the Charter Township of Lincoln of .3 mills ($.30 for each $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to .2944 mills ($.29 for each $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased back to the .3 mills originally approved by vote of the electors, and levied for 15 years, 2013 through 2027, inclusive, for the purpose of funding the operations of the Lincoln Township Public Library, raising an estimated $190,000.00 in the first year the millage is levied?[3]
