Toddy Puller has been a Democratic member of the Virginia State Senate since 1999, representing the 36th district.

Puller received a B.A. at Mary Washington College. Puller is a member of the Episcopal Church.

Prior to serving as a senator Puller served as a member of the House of Delegates from 1992-2000.
