Democrat Lisa Howze of Detroit is the current state senator for the 2nd House District of the Michigan State House, and is in her first term. She defeated Scott Benson, Cheryl Clark, Rose Jones, David Lankford-Parnel, Travis Reece, Gregory Robinson, Anthony Watts and Donnie Whitley in the August 3 Democratic primary. She defeated Damian Mitchell (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010.
