The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 7, 2014. Incumbent Oley Larsen was unopposed in the Republican primary, while Lisa Wolf was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Wolf and Larsen will face off in the general election.[2][3]

Wolf lost her bid for re-election to one of two seats in District 3 of the North Dakota House of Representatives. Andrew Maragos (R) and Roscoe Streyle (R) were elected to represent the district.[4] The election took place on November 2, 2010.[5]
