Liz Krueger (b. November 20, 1957) is a Democratic member of the New York State Senate, representing District 28. She was first elected to the chamber in 2002. She is currently Chair of Minority Program Development.

She previously represented District 26 in the New York State Senate from 2003 to 2013.

Biography

Krueger earned her B.S. in Social Policy/Human Development from Northwestern University in 1979 and her M.A. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago in 1981. Her professional experience includes being the Founding Director of the New York City Food Bank, working as a researcher for the Children's Policy Research Project at the University of Chicago from 1980 to 1981., as Special Project Coordinator for the Greater Cleveland Community Food Bank from 1981 to 1983, as a consultant to the Board of Directors for Food for Survival and as an Associate Director for Community Food Resources Center from 1986 to 2000.

Krueger ran in the 2012 election for New York State Senate District 28. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012. She also ran on the Working Families Party ticket. Krueger defeated David Paul Garland (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012. [1][2]
