Local pensions on the ballot: This topic refers to local ballot measures regarding the regulation, change or reform of pension plans on the local level usually for city or county employees. Many of these measure seek to shift public pensions from a defined benefit plan, in which employees are guaranteed certain benefits regardless of the success of pension fund investments, to a defined contribution plane, which is more similar to a 401(K) style plan.
