In February 2012, the grassroots organization Democracy for America, founded by Howard Dean, named Frankel one of the top 10 progressive candidates in the 2012 U.S. House races.[1]
Politico has listed the 22nd district race as one of the five primaries to watch in 2012.[2]

Frankel is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Florida's 22nd District. Frankel is seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket.[3] The signature filing deadline is May 7, 2012, with the primary taking place on August 14, 2012.
