Lois Kolkhorst is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 13. He was first elected to the chamber in 2000.

Biography

Kolkhorst is the Owner/Operator of Kolkhorst Petroleum. She previously worked as Chief Executive Officer for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce/Economic Development Foundation of Brenham from 1995-2000, and as Director of Marketing for the Athletics Administration of Texas Christian University from 1988-1996.

She is a member of the Texas Christian University Lady Frogs Golf Team.[1]

  • HB 5 - Relating to the Health Care Compact, which would provide states greater control over federal Medicare and Medicaid programs.[2] In July 2011, Gov. Rick Perry signed into law SB 7 that contained compact language from HB 5 as well as other health care changes.
  • HB 13 - Relating to the Medicaid program and alternate methods of providing health services to low-income persons in this state. Would provide a statewide alternative in Texas to the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.[3]
  • HB 504 - Relating to the creation of an offense for a parent's contribution to a child's failure to comply with a sentence or court order relating to a disruptive activity or disruption of class on school property.
  • HB 518 - Relating to programs to provide student loan repayment assistance for certain correctional officers, for certain speech-language pathologists and audiologists, and for certain mathematics and science teachers.
  • HB 1275 - Relating to the authority to impose a county hotel occupancy tax.
  • HB 2379 - Relating to the establishment of an adult stem cell research program.[4]
