M.C. Heileson was a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 2nd Congressional District of Idaho.

Biography

Heileson grew up in Iona, Idaho.

  • Brigham Young University, Political Science

After high school Heileson joined the National Guard and spent seven months in active duty stateside followed by four years in the active reserve.[1] He also served a one year tour of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War.[1]

Career

Heileson has been involved in the home construction and property development industries, as well as owning and operating various companies.[1] Currently, he works as an HVAC contractor. [1]

Heileson ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Idaho's 2nd District. Heileson was defeated in seeking the nomination on the Republican ticket. [2] Heileson faces incumbent Mike Simpson and John Baird in the Republican primary. Nicole LeFavour defeated Jack Wayne Chappell in the Democratic primary. Candidates wishing to run were required to file by the signature filing deadline of March 9, 2012. The primary elections were held on May 15, 2012.

Heileson and his wife, Gloria Severe, were married in 1972 and have lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho for the past 39 years.[1] They have 7 children and 13 grandchildren.[1]
