M. Maggie Crotty is a former Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. Crotty has served in the Illinois State Senate since 2003. Crotty was re-elected in November of 2010 with her term expiring in 2013. Crotty has also served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1997 to 2002.

Crotty graduated with her diploma from Mercy High School. Before becoming a Senator, Crotty was a Development Director for the Cerebral Palsy for Greater Chicago.

Crotty initially filed to run for re-election to the 19th District seat in the Illinois State Senate in 2012, but on December 29 she said she would be withdrawing from the race in order to spend more time with her family.[2]

The election took place on November 2, 2010. Crotty ran unopposed in the Democratic primary election on February 2nd.[4]


On November 7, 2006, Democrat Maggie Crotty won re-election to the Illinois State Senate District 19 receiving 48,270 votes, ahead of Republican Eric Wallace (14,601 votes).[5]

Crotty is divorced with three children and resides in Oak Park, Illinois.

The Illinois Opportunity Project, "an independent research and public policy enterprise that promotes legislative solutions in advance of free markets and free minds," annually releases its Legislative Vote Card, grading all members in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly on the basis of their support of "pro-growth economic policies that increase personal freedom and reign in expansive government."[9][10]
