The Maine Commissioner of Labor is a position in the Maine state government. The commissioner acts as head of the Department of Labor.

Current officeholder

The current officeholder is Robert Winglass. He was appointed by Gov. Paul LePage in May 2011 and sworn into office on June 3.


The Commissioner is appointed by the Governor of Maine and subject to review by the Legislature's Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee and confirmation by the Legislature.[1]


In 2010, the Maine Commissioner of Labor was paid an estimated $102,689 according to the Council of State Governments.[2]
