The Maine Research and Development Question did not make the November 6, 2012 ballot in the state of Maine as a legislatively-referred state statute. The measure would have allowed for a $20 million research and development grant for science and technology in the state.
Path to the ballot
The Maine Legislature passed the measure during May 2012, sending it to the governor for either approval for the ballot or veto. The measure was vetoed by the Maine Governor.
Then on May 31, 2012, the Maine House of Representatives failed to override the veto with a vote of 88 to 53. This fell short of the 2/3rds margin needed to override the veto.
