The Maine Sexual Orientation Referendum, on the ballot as Question 1, was on the November 8, 2005 election ballot in Maine as a veto referendum. Voters were asked whether they wished to reject a recently-enacted law passed by the Maine State Legislature that made it illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation in the state.

45% of voters said "yes", which meant that the law was ratified and went into effect.
