The Maine Telephone Service Initiative, appearing on the ballot as Measure 2, was on the November 4, 1986 ballot in Maine as a measure to ban mandatory local phone service. It passed.

  • In favor: 241,894
  • Opposed: 178,745

The question on the ballot was, ""Do You want to Ban Mandatory Local Measured Phone Service and Direct the State to Keep Flat Rate Phone Service at as Low a Cost as Possible?"
