Maine transparency legislation
Transparency legislation proposed in Maine.
Although not a legislative action, proponents of governmental transparency in Maine are accusing new Gov. Paul LePage of backtracking on transparency promises.
LD 181 mandates the creation of an open government portal for state spending. Taxpayers would be able to view the amount, recipient, funding agency and description of each state expenditure in a timely manner on the website.
