A Marcellus Township Community Center Levy Increase measure will be on the February 28, 2012 ballot in the township of Marcellus which is in Cass County.

This measure seeks to increase the current community center levy by a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for maintenance and operational costs of the Hudson memorial Building in the township.[1]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the limitation of the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in the Township of Marcellus, Cass County, Michigan, be increased (such being a renewal of the ½ mill approved at the election of August 5, 2008, set to expire with the 2012 tax levy) by one-half (1/2) mill on each dollar (50 cents on each $1000.00) of the assessed taxable valuation, as equalized, for a period of four (4) years, 2013 to 2016, inclusive? The purpose of this millage is to provide funds for the maintenance and operation of the Hudson Memorial Building, a Community Center. This levy will raise in the first calendar year an estimated $33,000.00.[2]
