A Marcellus Township Library Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township Marcellus, which is in Cass County.

This measure sought to renew the current library levy which is set at a rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further six years in order to continue to pay for library maintenance and operational costs in the city.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the limitation of the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in the Township of Marcellus, Cass County, Michigan, be increased (such being a renewal of the current one (1) mill levy which will expire with the 2012 tax levy) by one (1) mill on each dollar ($1.00 on each $1000.00) of the assessed taxable valuation, as equalized, for a period of six (6) years, being the years 2013 to 2018 inclusive, to provide funds for the maintenance and operation of the Marcellus Township Wood Memorial Library? This levy will raise in the first calendar year of such levy an estimated $68,119.60.[3]
