Lewis was running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Illinois 2nd District. Lewis is seeking the nomination on the Independent ticket.[2] The general election took place on November 6, 2012. Lewis ran against incumbent Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. (D) and Brian Woodworth (R) in the general election.

Lewis lost to Jesse Jackson Jr. in the election.[3]
