Margaret Cheney (b. August 1, 1952) is a Democratic member of the Vermont House of Representatives, representing Windsor-Orange-2. She was first elected to the chamber in 2006.


Cheney earned her BA from Harvard University in 1974.

Cheney was an Editor for Menlo-Atherton Recorder from 1974 to 1977. She then worked for The Washingtonian Magazine from 1978 to 1989. She has worked as a Spanish Teacher for Sharon Academy since 2001. She also currently works as a Television Host for CATV White River Junction and as a Freelance Writer.

Cheney served as a member of the School Administrative Unit 70 School Board from 1998 to 2006. She was also a member of the Norwich School Board and Chair of the Dresden School Board during this time.

Cheney won re-election in the 2012 election for Vermont House of Representatives Windsor-Orange 2. Cheney was unopposed in the August 28 Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
