Maria Cantwell (b. October 13, 1958) is a Democratic member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Washington. Cantwell was first elected to the Senate in 2000.

Biography

Cantwell was born in Indianapolis, IN, and earned her bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio.[1] After losing her 1994 bid for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives, she pursued a career in the high-tech industry before returning to politics again in 2000.[2]
