The 2014 U.S. House of Representatives elections in Maryland will take place on November 4, 2014. Voters will elect eight candidates to serve in the U.S. House, one from each of the state's eight congressional districts. Maryland is one of 21 states with a mixed primary system. Parties decide who may vote in their primary election and generally close it to all voters except those registered with their party.[1]

Maryland is one of 33 states that has early voting with no specific requirements as to who can vote early. Early voting begins on the second Thursday prior to election and ends on the Thursday before the election.[39] The average number of days prior to an election that voters can cast an early ballot is 21 days in states with a definitive starting date.

Maryland ranked 19th out of the 50 states and District of Columbia in the Pew Charitable Trusts' Elections Performance Index (EPI), based on the 2012 elections. The EPI examines election administration performance and assigns an average percentage score based on 17 indicators of election performance. These indicators were chosen to in order to determine both the convenience and integrity of these three phases of an election: registration, voting and counting. Maryland received an overall score of 67%.[40]
