The Massachusetts lieutenant gubernatorial election will take place on November 4, 2014. The position is vacant following Tim Murray's (D) resignation, effective June 2, in order to lead the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.[1] He was ineligible to seek re-election.

Massachusetts has a mostly closed primary system, in which the selection of a party's candidates in a primary election is limited to registered members of that party. In Massachusetts, however, independent voters may select which party's primary to vote in.
