Matt McCoy (b. March 29, 1966) is a Democratic member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 21 and serving as Assistant Majority Leader. He was first elected to the chamber in 1996. He previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1992 to 1996.

McCoy earned his B.A. from Briar Cliff College in 1988. His professional experience includes working as Vice President of Community Development for Downtown Development Corporation.

McCoy won re-election to the 31st District Seat in the Iowa State Senate, defeating Republican candidate Dave Leach. McCoy defeated Leach by a margin of 13,385 to 7,064.

McCoy had no opposition in the Democratic primary election on June 8th.[1]
