Mattie Hunter is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. She has been a Senator since 2003, representing the 3rd district.

Hunter earned her Bachelor's degree from Monmouth University and her Master's degree from Jackson State University.

Hunter is a small business owner in addition to being a Senator. Before becoming a Senator, Hunter was the Director of the Chicago Housing Authority.
