Dobson is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing New York's 23rd District. She is seeking the nomination on the Democratic ticket and will face county legislator Nate Shinagawa and attorney Leslie Danks Burke in the June 26 primary.[1]

The winner will take on Republican incumbent Tom Reed. The national Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has taken an interest in the race, citing the three challengers as evidence of opposition to the Republican incumbent.[2]
