Issues

Rejected charter school petition

On August 13, 2013 the Menifee Union School Board unanimously voted to reject the application for a charter school from the Heritage Classical Charter Schools of America. The application was rejected because according to school attorney Janet Mueller, "the charter plan failed to include complete descriptions of various elements, and district staff determined “the petitioners are demonstrably unlikely to successfully implement the program." (Parts of the educational plan) were so vaguely described that it seemed as though the petitioner did not know much about the needs of this community"[6] Menifee already has a charter school, the Santa Rosa Academy.
