Michael Barbieri is a Democratic member of the Delaware House of Representatives, representing the 18th District since 2008.

Barbieri is Executive Director of Crossroads of Delaware and Founder/Director of Strategic Management Initiatives. He is a certified alcohol and drug counselor of the Delaware National Guard, and a licensed clinical social worker.

Barbieri is a member of the Caesar Rodney Rotary, Employee Assistance Professionals, National Association of Social Workers, and Chair of the Rotary Basket Brigade.[1]

Barbieri's sponsored legislation includes:

  • HB 125 - "requires all unlicensed clinical social workers in Delaware to obtain a license for the continued practice of social work."
  • HB 190 - "authorizes and requires the Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families to conduct drug testing of its employees."
  • HB 234 - "imposes a license requirement and fee of twenty five cents (25¢) per barrel upon any entity engaged in the commercial lightering of petroleum products on waters within the territorial jurisdiction of this State."

Barbieri won re-election to the 18th District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Barbieri defeated Terry R. Spence in the November 2, 2010 general election.[4]

On November 4, 2008, Barbieri won election to the Delaware House of Representatives from Delaware's 18th District, defeating Terry Spence (R). Barbieri received 4,164 votes in the election while Spence received 3,845 votes.[5] Barbieri raised $23,686 for his campaign; Spence raised $85,815.[6]
