Michael D. Bishop (b. March 18, 1967) was a Republican member and Majority Leader of the Michigan State Senate, representing the state's 12 Senate District, which encompasses the Eastern Detroit suburbs of Auburn Hills, Pontiac, Rochester, and Rochester Hills. Due to Michigan term limits, Senator Bishop did not run for re-election in the Michigan State Senate elections of 2010. [1]

On February 18, 2009, he announced his candidacy for the statewide office of attorney general, the seat vacated by Mike Cox, who was barred by state term limit laws from running for a third consecutive term in office. [2]

At the State Republican Party Convention on Friday, August 28, 2010, Bill Schuette secured the nomination over Mike Bishop by a delegate vote of 1,072 to 971. [13]

Personal

Bishop currently resides in Rochester, Michigan with his wife, Cristina. The couple has had three children together - Benjamin Donald, Gabriella Maria, and Nathan. He is also a practicing Protestant.
