Professional experience
Upon graduating from law school, Delaney joined the Machester-based law firm, Wiggin & Nourie, as an attorney specializing in business litigation. Four years later, he was appointed by the New Hampshire Department of Justice to serve as an assistant to the state's attorney general. Delaney then became chief of the Homicide Unit shortly thereafter, remaining in that position until 2004 when he took up the responsibilities of Deputy Attorney General. He left two years later to work as Governor John H. Lynch's legal counsel. In 2009, Governor Lynch appointed Delaney as New Hampshire Attorney General following the resignation of Kelly A. Ayotte who chose to run for the United States Senate in November 2010.
Personal
Delaney currently resides in Manchester, New Hampshire with his wife, Caroline, and their three children.
