Michael Estes was a Republican candidate for District 1 of the Maine State Senate. The primary election was on June 8, 2010 and the general election was on November 2.

Estes was defeated by Democratic candidate Dawn Hill in the November 2 general election. Democratic incumbent Peter Bowman did not run for re-election.[1]

In the June 8th primary election, Estes defeated candidate Sarah Lewin by only three votes, a margin of 1,548-1,545.[2]

On his campaign website, Estes outlines these issues as his main priorities:[3]

  • Improving our Economic quality of life - creating more jobs, lower electricity costs, allow local businesses to expand
  • Fighting taxes and spending - lower taxes, opposing new taxes and fees, and supporting Question #1 rollback of Dawn Hill's 100 new taxes
