Michael B.G. Froman (b. August 20, 1962, in San Rafael, California) is the current United States Trade Representative. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 19, 2013, by a vote of 93-4.[1]

He previously served as an assistant to President Obama, Deputy Secretary and Chief of Staff in the Treasury Department and in the White House during the Clinton administration.[2]


Froman was born in California and received degrees from Princeton, Harvard and Oxford Universities. He served the White House during the Clinton administration before being appointed again by President Barack Obama.[2] Between administrations, he held roles at Citigroup, becoming President and CEO of CitiInsurance International Holdings, Inc.[3]
