Michael E. Gronstal (b. January 29, 1950) is a Democratic member of the Iowa State Senate, representing District 8 and serving as Senate Majority Leader. He was first elected to the chamber in 2013 and served a term from 1985 to 2013. He previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 1982 to 1984.

Gronstal earned his B.A. from Antioch College.

Gronstal ran for re-election to the Iowa State Senate in 2012. Due to redistricting, he ran in district 8. Gronstal ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012 and defeated Al Ringgenberg in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
