Michael Peter Huerta (b. November 18, 1956, in Riverside, California) is the current Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He was confirmed by the United States Senate on January 1, 2013, by a voice vote.[1] The position was left vacant for over a year after previous administrator, Randy Babbitt, resigned following a drunk driving arrest.

He previously served as Acting Administrator and Deputy Administrator of the FAA. He also served in the U.S. Department of Transportation during the Clinton administration.[2]

Biography

Huerta was born in California and attended the University of California - Riverside for political science before earning a Master of International Relations from Princeton University.[2]
