McCready won election in the 2012 election for Michigan House of Representatives District 40. He defeated Robert Lawrence, David W. Potts, and David Wolkinson in the August 7 Republican primary and defeated Dorian Coston (D) and Steve Burgis (L) in thee general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
