Michael Nofs (born November 19, 1953) has been a Republican member of the Michigan State Senate since 2009. Previously he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2003 through 2008. Nofs was also chair of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners from 1993-1995 and 2001-2002; and commissioner of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners, 4th District from 1993-2002.

Nofs' professional experiences include post commander for Michigan State Police, Battle Creek; trooper with Michigan State Police, Battle Creek; deputy with Calhoun County Sheriff Department; police officer and patrolman with Marshall City Police Department; and cadet with the Battle Creek City Police Department.

Nofs earned his AAs in criminal justice from Kellogg Community College and his BA in management in human resources from Spring Arbor University.

Nofs has five children.[1]

It appears Nofs is a candidate for the 2010 election to the Michigan Senate for the 19th District.

2006

On November 7, 2006, Nofs won re-election for the Michigan House of Representatives election for the 62nd district. In this election he raised $127,709-; of that total $127,549- (100.2%) was from in state contributions, $9,800- (7.7%) was from out of state contributions, and $-10,000 (-7.9%) was from/to unknown sources.[3]
