The Michigan Commissioner of Insurance is a state executive position in the Michigan state government.

The Commissioner serves as head of the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation, which is responsible for regulating the state's financial industries, which includes consumer finance, financial institutions, insurance and securities.^[1]

Current officeholder

The current officeholder is Kevin Clinton. He has served in this position since April 2011.

The Commissioner of Insurance is appointed by the Governor.

Compensation

In 2010, the Michigan Commissioner of Insurance was paid an estimated $112,199 according to the Council of State Governments.^[2]
