Michigan Fracking Ban Initiative (2016)

The Michigan Fracking Ban Initiative may appear on the November 2014 statewide ballot in Michigan as an initiated state statute. If enacted this measure would prohibit the use of horizontal hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," in Michigan.[1]


The Committee to Ban Fracking in Michigan is sponsoring the measure.[1]

In order to place the measure on the November 2014 ballot supporters are required to collect a minimum of 258,088 valid signatures by May 28, 2014.

The Board of State Canvassers approved the petition for circulation on Friday, February 15, 2013.[1]
