The Michigan Treasurer is a state executive position in the Michigan state government.

The office of the state treasurer collects, invests, and disburses all state money. The treasury additionally administers major tax and property laws and safeguards the state's credit.[1]

Current officeholder

The current officeholder is Andy Dillon. He was appointed to the position in 2011 by Republican Gov. Rick Snyder.


The state Constitution addresses the office of the Treasurer in Article V, the Executive Department.

Under Article V, Section 3:

The single executives heading principal departments shall include a secretary of state, a state treasurer and an attorney general...


The Treasurer is appointed by the Governor.


The Treasurer is responsible for managing all state funds.[2]


In 2010, the Michigan Treasurer was paid an estimated $174,204 according to the Council of State Governments.[3]
