Mike Crane is a Republican member of the Georgia State Senate, representing District 28. Crane was first elected in the November 8, 2011 special election. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Mitch Seabaugh (R) resigned to accept an appointment to the position of deputy state treasurer.[1]

On November 8, Crane faced fellow Republicans Duke Blackburn, Matt Brass, Kyle Frank, Dale Pepper, Edward Stone, and Mark Washington as well as Democrats Wayne Seabolt and Jammie Williams. Cynthia Bennett also ran as a non-partisan candidate. Since no candidate received a majority of the vote, the top two vote getters--Blackburn and Crane--proceeded to a run-off election on December 6 where Blackburn was defeated.[2][3]
