Mike Frerichs is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate. Frerichs was first elected to the Illinois Senate since 2006 with his term expiring in 2010. Frierchs graduated from Yale University in 1995. Before being a Senator, Frierchs was a teacher from 1995 to 1997 before becoming a Certified Public Finance Officer.

Frerichs is running for re-election to the 52nd District Seat in the Illinois State Senate against Republican Al Reynolds. The election takes place on November 2, 2010. McCarter ran unopposed in the Democratic primary election on February 2nd.[2]

On November 7, 2006, Democrat Mike Frerichs won re-election to the Illinois State Senate District 52 receiving 27,149 votes, ahead of Republican Judith Myers (26,607 votes), and Socialist Joseph Parnarauskis (1,894 votes).[3]
