The Minnesota Active Duty Legislators Amendment may appear on the November 2012 ballot in Minnesota as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would have a defined procedure of succession if a member of the Minnesota Legislature is called into military service on active duty. [1]

Text of measure

The question would be presented to voters as follows:

"Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to require the legislature to enact laws providing for prompt and temporary succession to the powers and duties of a legislator who is ordered to active duty in the armed forces of the United States for a period anticipated to be more than 30 consecutive legislative days?"

Constitutional Changes

The proposed amendment would amend section 4 to Article IV to the Minnesota Constitution. [3]
