The Minnesota Auditor is a constitutionally established state executive position in the Minnesota state government.
The Office of the State Auditor oversees spending by local governments in Minnesota through financial, compliance, and special audits.[1]
Current officeholder
The current officeholder is Rebecca Otto. Otto, a Democrat, was first elected in 2006. She is the 18th State Auditor.
Authority
The state Constitution addresses the office of the auditor in Article V, the Executive Department.

Qualifications
The state auditor must have the following qualifications:[1]
- Be a qualified voter
- At least 21 years of age
Elections
Minnesota elects state auditors in the midterm elections, that is, even years that are not Presidential election years. For Minnesota, 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 are all state auditor election years. There are no term limits.
Compensation
Article V, Section 4 of the Minnesota Constitution addresses compensation:

In 2010, the Minnesota State Auditor was paid an estimated $102,257 according to the Council of State Governments.[2]
