The Mississippi Secretary of State election of 2011 was held on November 8, 2011 following a primary election on August 2nd, 2011. Incumbent Delbert Hosemann was unopposed; he was slated to face Reform Party candidate John Luke Pannell, but Pannell's name did not appear on the ballot.

Background

The campaign began with incumbent Republican Delbert Hosemann's announcement on February 23rd, 2011 that he would run for re-election. He claimed to have decreased filing fees for small businesses and helped shrink the size of government by managing his office through budget cuts.[1] Richard "Ricky" Dombrowski, city council president of Gulfport, MS, announced he would challenge incumbent Hosemann on March 1, 2011. Dombrowski said the impetus for his run was Hosemann's efforts to take control of Gulfport's harbor against the will of its municipal government.[2] No Democrats stood to challenge Hosemann.
