The Missouri Governor is the chief executive is the chief executive of the state, and commander-in-chief of the state military forces in the state of Missouri. The governor appoints department heads and members of boards and commissions. During special circumstances the governor can call for special sessions of the legislature.

Additionally, the governor has power the to grant reprieves, commutations and pardons, after conviction, for all offenses except treason and cases of impeachment,

The current officeholder is Jay Nixon.

Qualifications

The term of office of the governor of Missouri is four years and is limited to two terms of office.

at least thirty years old
a citizen of the United States for at least fifteen years
a resident of this state at least ten years
