Mitch Holmes is a Republican member of the Kansas State Senate, representing District 33 since 2013. He previously served in the Kansas House of Representatives, representing District 114 from 2005 to 2013.

Prior to his election to the House, Holmes worked as a computer programmer and analyst. He received his Certificate in Computer Programming from DePaul University, a BS in Human Resource Management from Friends University, and an AA in Music Education from Hutchinson Community College.[1]

Holmes' website lists his voting record as "100% on Economic Development bills, 100% on Tax Relief, Fought for Vocational weighting, Low-Enrollment weighting and Local Control for smaller schools, Supported the Marriage Amendment, Supported Concealed Carry."[2]

He refused to take Project Vote Smart's 2008 Political Courage Test. The test, which is administered to all candidates for presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative offices, asks one central question - "Are you willing to tell citizens your positions on the issues you will most likely face on their behalf?"[3]

Holmes won election in the 2012 election for Kansas State Senate District 33. Holmes defeated Ruth Teichman in the August 7 Republican primary and was unopposed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6][7]
