Romney formally announced his 2008 run for U.S. President on February 13, 2007 at the Henry Ford Museum outside of Detroit, Michigan. Ultimately losing the Republican nomination to John McCain, Romney spent $110 million during his campaign, $45 million of which was his own money.
Romney was elected as Governor of Massachusetts on November 5, 2002.
